The cover needs to tell the story, draw you in, and leave you wanting more. Judging a book by its cover is exactly what happens in the comic world, and cover artists play an essential role in the success of bringing new characters to the prospective readers attention.
This layout was designed with that in mind, to stand out amongst the "movie poster" layouts of many comics. The font choices, and colour are indicative of the story within, and once the cover artist art is added...it will blow your spark plugs.
